Medical Records Knowledge Discovery and
Information Management for Radiation Workers
The anchor project for the National Institute
for Advanced Technology (NIAT) is structured to provide the US
Department of Energy (DOE) with an integrated electronic management
system for medical records. The new records system is designed with
non-proprietary software to provide the DOE with survivable
documentation in areas such as occupational medicine, industrial
hygiene and radiation exposure. Several units within UNLV are
contributing to this effort, including the National Supercomputing
Center for Energy and the Environment (NSCEE) and the Center for Health
Information Analysis (CHIA). Other members of the team include
the Northern Arizona University
Center for Data Insight (CDI) and private sector entities led by
Quest Technology, Inc.
